In collaboration with the ReSources network, GeoLozere proposes in 2008 several 1 day discovery tours on the theme "geology and traditional architecture".

Registration deadlines and conditions

09:30: reception of the participants. Interactive slide shows: geology and landscapes, traditional architecture in the Causses region. Visit of a quarry between Chanac and Champerboux: discovery of the limestone layers, explanations of the quarryman on the extraction, demonstrations by the craftsmen (choice of stones, cutting of rubble stones, cutting of lauzes) with geologic explanations. Picnic in the ancient sheepfold of La Capelle. Discussion on the architecture of the causses: how to integrate ecological conception in rehabilitating/renovating ancient buildings? Visit of a lime oven (La Lavagne): the lime and its use in the building, the functioning of an oven, the history of its use. Traditional architecture: visit of an ancient farm ( Longuelouve). Discussion: the current constraints in restoration (financial, technical). End of the day around 18:00.
